Implementing a Digital Business Shift is Need of the Hour

Implementing a Digital Business Shift is Need of the Hour

Companies that have invested in data and technology prior to the pandemic are now in a much better position, dominating the markets even more. Many businesses are understandably reluctant to loosen the purse strings in the current environment of uncertainty. While digital transformation is often viewed as a massive upfront investment measured by long-term results, well, it doesn’t need to be.

Reflecting Back on 2020 and Looking Forward to 2021

Reflecting Back on 2020 and Looking Forward to 2021

Every year, we at CompassRed reflect back, take account of where we are, and endeavor to predict out where we might be at the end of next year. As I sat down to work on this year’s reflection - I found my January 2020 letter not so inspiring given what’s happened in our society over the last 12 months. Our end of year wrap up and predictions are partly inspired by letters from leaders in industry such as Warren Buffet’s annual letter to shareholders , Larry Fink of Black Rock , Azeem Azhar’s predictions for 2030, and so many more.

Three Important Watch-Outs to Know Before Upgrading to Google Analytics 4 (GA v4)

Since Google announced version 4 of Google Analytics (GA v4), I’ve only heard the positive side of what this means for everyday users. Keeping Culture in the Year of the Pandemic

Keeping Culture in the Year of the Pandemic

Like every small business owner, this year has been like no other. The challenges of maintaining partnerships, clients and work streams have been extraordinary. Meetings that would occur over coffees, dinners and lunches stopped completely and everything that was engrained in me about connecting with the outside world was completely thrown out the window. But the greatest challenge of the pandemic was about how to maintain the most important part of our business when no one physically shows up: our culture. Culture is one of our greatest assets a company has. I recall living through building a business during the dotcom bust of 2000 and the economic disaster of 2008. This of course is a year I’ll never forget.

Music in A Virtual World

Music in A Virtual World

Like many others, I was devastated when quarantine for COVID-19 postponed and cancelled many live performances. Many performing arts professionals are at a crossroads for performing live: will we embrace virtual events and permanently shift what it means to be a modern creative? Or will we “wait it out” until it’s safe to have large gatherings again? Additionally, what does this mean for people looking to learn a new musical instrument because they see themselves being on stage one day?

Top 3 Ways To Make Your RMarkdown Better (Part 1)

Analyzing the Response of Different Countries to COVID-19 Using Dynamic Time Warping

Analyzing the Response of Different Countries to COVID-19 Using Dynamic Time Warping

As we enter the eighth month of pandemic mitigation measures across the globe, some countries continue to have a low number of daily infections and deaths, others are suffering from a second wave of cases, while some countries haven’t even finished with the first wave of COVID-19. To make sense of the data and find similarities between the different countries, we may use statistical tools at our disposal to quantify the similarities and see whether countries that have similar patterns in the case and death count also had similar responses to COVID-19.
