Bob Dawes leads the Business Intelligence practice for CompassRed. With over 25 years of consulting experience centered on getting data into ERP systems, primarily Oracle, and most importantly, out to business users, primarily with QlikView. Bob began his consulting career at Andersen Consulting in the early 1990s, and in 1997 he joined Patrick at a small startup company called Hesta, focused in the Oracle ERP space, which evolved to British based Mi Services Group and eventually to French-based Business & Decision. He has worn many hats over the years, starting as a COBOL programmer, managing large projects and working as a sole consultant at clients for years. For the past 10 years, Bob has worked in the Business Intelligence space, with Oracle, Qlikview, and Microsoft solutions. Bob has a passion for the modern, in-memory, associative data engines which makes building interactive dashboards relatively easy and fun.
Bob lives outside of Philadelphia in the small town of Swarthmore, in the same house where he grew up. He has raised three wonderful children there with his wife Jodi. Bob is involved with his local Presbyterian church, and in coaching soccer, baseball and basketball over the years. He enjoys music and self described "can play piano moderately well, am mediocre to weak on the guitar, and just picked up a plectrum banjo which I’m truly terrible on.”
